BRAZIL – TROPICALIA PSYCHEDELIC 1967 – 76
Der New Yorker Tropicalista Freak und Plattensammler Joel Stones hat uns mit seinem Sampler „Brazilian Fuzz Guitar Bananas“ ein wunderbares Sammlerstück über den psychedelischen Underground in Brasilien gescheckt. Dies hat Pura Vida veranlasst eine Radiosendung über eben diesen zu produzieren. Auch im größten Land Lateinamerikas diktierte eine Militärregierung das Geschehen, als die Fuzz Gitarre vom reinen Instrument zur Waffe gegen Unterdrückung und Bevormundung umgemodelt wurde.

The Real Good Stuff
This sampler bored me to death. The „rarest, best brazilian fuzz-funk-psych 45s“???! (Even better are the titles the label uses for the samplers.) I don’t know if it’s real with him beeing a brazilian vinyl archaeologist?! He sure is. But what Stones put together was more a promotion thing for the label than digging or compiling good stuff. He is just used. As they say: the stuff was never reissued – so they have to. and no comment on the extras the vinyl comes with to make it more „attractive“.
Throw the Stones Bananas away and grab yourself a bite of Votel’s Brazilika!
Nevertheless, your shows are grand!
