The previous yoga sutra went into detail on the udana vayu, or the upward flow experienced in the extremities of the body. This episode explores sutra 3.41 and the samana vayu, which is the energy necessary for the body to produce heat to digest and cleanse easily.

Since the samana vayu is so strongly tied to the fire element, once the yogi achieves mastery in this way, the outer aura of the yogi is said to shine.

In a similar way (as related to sutra 3.40), pranayama techniques are said to create the necessary heat to master such a flow of energy within the body. The fire element is necessary in helping us complete projects, and on a physical level, simply digest, whether it is food, or things that happen in life.

As always, we can relate back into the heart space, as the samana vayu directs the fire from the organs in the belly, up into the chest. This creates a sense of desire to live from the heart, and from a space of love. This is the way to a shiny, blazing aura. When our hearts are so tended to, and fed, that they shine from all the cells of our being.
