Chemnitz wird im kommenden Jahr Kulturhauptstadt – wir gratulieren herzlich und feiern mit!

Together with Radio T from Chemnitz and Near FM from Dublin we are planning a joint radio project:

Local art and culture is often considered important only for the local community and the formation of a local identity or self- image, albeit only limited as well. However, the word local also often generates derogatory, disrespectful reactions. These prejudices results in that they receive less attention and visibility in the mainstream media. With the project, we want to provide a counter-response to the pitting of local against international- progressive. Especially in local grassroots movements and neighbourhood projects, in the local DIY beginnings on the way to a successful career as an artist, in a successful local entrepreneurial history and in further examples, there is highly innovative potential from which Europeans can learn a lot from each other in the exchange of local art and stories.

Last year, we already met in Chemnitz, and Lale & Lilly from our cultural department are currently in Dublin to plan further steps in the project.
