The importance of practical media education in schools

Mature media consumption is essential for a functioning democracy. In times of YouTube and TikTok this is not self evident and probably has never been. Schools often are the only possibility to build awareness and create an understanding how media works. Trust in so called “established media” is declining, not realising that the “replacement” on internet channels is very often far worse and without any ethical codex to control it. Finding the truth is a difficult task and the most dangerous ones are the ones who think they found it.
