Selim Mawad has over 20 years of experience in human rights advocacy and peacebuilding. From 2002 – 2011, he served as the Founder & CEO of the Sustainable Democracy Center in Beirut, Lebanon, an organization to raise awareness about democracy and human rights. Today, he’s an independent consultant on political and human rights issues. And a couple of years ago, Selim Mawad came to paining. His works include paintings, sketches, graffiti, comics and articles, in which he deals with the topics of humanitarian crises and social injustice. Many of the stories were depicted and drawn whilst on the field to be later on transformed into a painting.

Mischa G. Hendel met Selim Mawad for an interview at Radio Orange, just before the opening of his exhibition in the Aktionsradius. You will hear the interview about arts, conflicts, violence, resilience and vulnerability. followed by excerpts of the discussion during the opening on 28th September.
