Collective Listening Session by Netta Weiser
Special guest: Barbara Mahlknecht

Live from FLUCC as part of In der Kubatur des Kabinetts – HO ALTRO DA FARE (I HAVE OTHER THINGS TO DO). Broadcasted on ORANGE 94.0 on 26 November 2024.

Radio-Choreography: “I Have Other Things to Do” brings to light invisible gestures of dissent from different times and places, revealing a history of embodied female resistance. In this special episode, we listen to dance acts from Beirut’s 2019 protests and Vienna’s communist resistance under the NS regime. We explore the Wages for Housework campaign in 1970s Italy as a choreographic act, and hear field recordings from the 1974 feminist rally. We also engage with a Deep Listening score by feminist US-American composer Pauline Oliveros. Through collective listening, voicing, and live broadcasting, we bring these unheard voices and invisible bodies into new spaces, sparking grains of resistance and transgenerational solidarity in our present moment.

This episode is part of Radio-Choreography, a long-term artistic research project by Netta Weiser. The project explores the transformation of dance into sound, the relationships between live broadcasting and muted histories, as well as acts of listening as ways of being together. https://radio-choreography.net/
