Today’s episode will focus on a compelling interdisciplinary research initiative titled Elastic Borders: Rethinking the Borders of the 21st Century. This project caught my attention due to its unique approach in examining borders not as fixed lines but as elastic and dynamic constructs. It explores various dimensions—ranging from physical and human borders associated with migration, to the social and political boundaries within the European Union. Using examples from Spain, Tunisia, and Greece, we’ll investigate how this concept of elasticity in border regions impacts people from diverse backgrounds and walks of life, often with serious consequences.
