With Kurdwin Ayub and Farahnaz Sharifi, moderated by Matthias Seier

‘Revolution’ originally described the movement of planets around the sun. This thought serves as the starting point for the conversation Planets of Love and Revolutions with Iranian film maker Farahnaz Sharifi and Iraqi-born Austrian director Kurdwin Ayub – two extraordinary artists who explore female freedom and the limits it is set. The conversation is preceded by a showing of the films Moon by Ayub and My Stolen Planet by Sharifi.

My Stolen Planet is a mesmerizing diary style film: Sharifi, born in 1979 during the Islamic Revolution, captures everyday moments of inner freedom and outer repression – it is a unique perspective on loss and the value of memories. Ayub’s thriller Moon was the highlight of many international film festivals. It revolves around the former martial artist Sarah (Florentina Holzinger) who leaves Austria in order to train three sisters from a wealthy family in Jordan. Her dream job turns into a disturbing insight in the modern day repression of women.
