In November, the major UN Climate Conference, COP31, will take place in Antalya, Turkey. This is a good opportunity for the Turkish government to showcase its own projects in a favorable light. Currently, the government is planning to build nuclear power plants as part of its “green electrification” initiative—even though 34 percent of the country’s electricity still comes from coal. Three students from Yaşar University in Izmir are taking a close look at the arguments in favor of the new nuclear power plants and examining how the Turkish media covers the issue. The report was produced as part of the Sonic Resilience project.
