The Jewish lieutenant of the Red Army was captured by the Germans in October 1941. Via a labour camp in Minsk he was sent to Sobibór extermination camp in September 1943. There, he co-organised the uprising on October 14th 1943. After his escape, he joined a Soviet partisan unit.
