What an inspiring conversation with Frida Robles on Ženergija! 💙
Together, we explored the politics of movement, different forms of resistance, and the radical idea that JOY itself is a form of resistance.
Frida Robles is an artist, writer and curator researching performance in Africa and Latin America, with a focus on memory, place and embodied histories. Her practice combines text, performance and site-specific installation. She is pursuing a PhD in Art History at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and teaches at the University of Vienna’s Institute for Theatre, Film and Media Studies.
At the heart of our conversation was CHOREOPOLITICS OF JOY, curated by Frida — a collective exploration of movement, space, belonging and non-belonging, and the many ways our lives are interconnected.
What does it mean to move politically? Where are we directing our bodies? Which structures can we still move? And what still moves us?
Through art, performances, lectures and workshops, Choreopolitics of Joy brings these questions to life, inviting us to rethink how we move together, resist together and create spaces for joy.
Featuring André Lepecki, Antonio Monroy, Iris Omari Ansong, MITABA-Trio, Neo Matloga, Rabbya Naseer, Rawan Almukhtar, Tania Libertad Ávila, Tonny Africa, William Matlala and Yi-um Collective.

Because resistance is not only about what we fight against, but also about what we create, share and celebrate together.
