AI ethics commissions, guidelines, and policy frameworks have increased in recent years. They promise a more responsible and human-centred approach to the rapidly advancing technologies. There is little consensus on what „ethical AI“ would look like – let alone how to get there and who should be involved in developing it. Who defines its parameters, and whose values are embedded or excluded in the process?
These are questions that experts discuss at the fourth edition of Wiener KI-Gespräche at Depot – Kunst und Diskussion. They bring together perspectives to explore the contested terrain of AI and ethics. Asma Derja represents a grassroots approach dedicated to aligning AI development with human rights and social justice. Alexander Schindler is a machine learning expert. What is AI ethics and what needs to be done for it to become more than just a buzzword?

With:
Asma Derja, Founder Ethical AI Alliance, Barcelona
Alexander Schindler, AI Taskforce, AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, Vienna

Moderation: Klaus Speidel, philosopher, University of Applied Arts Vienna

Recorded on 24.10.2025 at Depot – Kunst und Diskussion. For more Information: https://depot.or.at/
